Judge Olga Álvarez
San Diego (CA) Superior Court

Prior to joining the bench, Álvarez had been a shareholder and attorney at Heisner Álvarez since 2013; she was a certified specialist in estate planning, trust and probate law. She served as an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Law from 2016 to 2018 and was of counsel at Sullivan Hill Rez & Engel from 2010 to 2013. In 2022 she received the Lawyers Club of San Diego’s Belva Lockwood Award, named for the first woman admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.
Chief Judge Natasha K. Anderson
Nez Perce Tribal Court, Idaho

Prior to joining the bench, Chief Judge Anderson served as a deputy prosecutor for the Nez Perce Tribal Court beginning in September 2018 and transitioned to staff attorney in April 2019. She also served in Washington, D.C., as native touth strategy coordinator for the National Congress of American Indians and deputy associate director for Tribal Justice Support (Tribal Courts) at the Bureau of Indian Affairs’ Office of Justice Services, and as staff attorney at the National Congress of American Indians.
Justice Jose S. Castillo
California Court of Appeal
Appointed to the San Diego (CA) Superior Court in December 2020; retained by election in June 7, 2022; confirmed to the Court of Appeal in April 2023.
Justice Castillo was born in Mexico and came to the United States as a child. At age 17, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge and earning his associate’s, bachelor’s and law degrees, he served as a law clerk for Hon. Micaela Alvarez of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District and worked as a staff attorney with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Before his appointment to the Superior Court, he served as an assistant U.S. attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California.
