What is the enrollment process?
Register online by clicking the link on any course description page or directly at register.judges.org. Enrollment is subject to receipt of an online course registration submission for each participant. Each participant will be sent an electronic confirmation of enrollment. If an email confirmation is not received within 7 business days following a registration submittal, please contact the NJC Registrar’s Office at (800) 255-8343 or (775) 784-6747 or registrar@judges.org. The NJC reserves the right to limit the enrollment in any scheduled class.
When are fees due?
Both full payment of tuition and fees and a completed registration process are required to enroll in NJC courses and programming. Participants who are unable to pay in full at the time of registration, must have a certified payment plan or an approved payment deferral plan and pay in full at least 30 days before the start of the course. Participants who register within 30 days of the start of a course or program must pay upon receipt of the invoice.
A registration will not be considered complete until payment is made. Registration form will include a link to make a credit card payment upon registration and upon receipt of scholarship award notification. Automated reminders will be sent for collection of payment to complete registration to those who have not paid in full.
Do you offer financial assistance?
Financial support from individual contributors and foundations, as well as the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), state IOLTA funds, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and several state traffic safety agencies provide financial assistance for judicial education and training for the nation’s judiciary. Individual states may also have sources of funding available. For further information about applying for financial assistance to attend NJC programs, please send an email to njc-scholarships@judges.org or call us at (800) 25-JUDGE or (775) 327-8269.
What if I need to cancel my enrollment?
Enrolled participants who wish to withdraw from a course or program must submit a withdrawal request to the registrar in writing.
- If a withdrawal notification is received more than 30 days prior to the start of the course, tuition and fees will be refunded, minus 3 % of the total cost to cover the processing expense.
- If a withdrawal notification is received between 29 days and 1 day prior to the start of the course, 50% of tuition and fees will be refunded. • If a participant fails to attend a course or fails to send notification of withdrawal before the first day of the course, there will be no refund.
What happens if the NJC cancels a course I’m enrolled in?
If a course is canceled by the NJC, a full refund of all fees paid for the course will be issued. In the event that a course must be cancelled, the NJC will provide notice at least 30-days prior to the start of the course.
What does tuition cover?
Tuition includes all course materials.
What does the conference fee cover?
The mandatory conference fee provides for all breakfasts and lunches in the NJC dining room as well as one off-campus networking event. The off-site conference fee is based on having to pay regional catering rates.
Do you offer group rates?
Discounted group rates may be available for some NJC courses held in Reno. Please call the Business Office at (800) 25-JUDGE for more information.
How do I get Continuing Legal/Judicial Education (CLE/CJE) credits for NJC courses?
While NJC courses are nationally recognized by CLE Commissions or Boards, participants are asked to please follow their state’s specific filing rules to have their CLE/CJE credits approved. The NJC provides each participant a uniform certificate of attendance form upon completion of applicable NJC courses detailing how many CLE/CJE hours may be possible. Participants are responsible for filing this form with their state’s Continuing Legal Education Commissions or Boards where required. Your state may require you to pay a filing fee for CLE approval. If further clarification is needed, please contact the NJC Registrar’s Office at (800) 255-8343 or (775) 784-6747 or registrar@judges.org.
What is the NJC’s attendance policy?
The National Judicial College has a responsibility to the funding agencies that sponsor your attendance. The NJC must ensure that the tax dollars spent on continuing education are utilized for maximum benefit. It is, therefore, the policy and practice of the NJC not to award a Certificate of Completion to any participant who fails to attend all educational sessions. Participants who are unable to attend a class session(s) due to an emergency situation must contact the program attorney/manager for the course immediately.
If any portion of the course is missed, a participant may have to submit a written project determined in consultation with the program attorney/manager for the course. Failure to receive written permission or completion of the written project may result in the denial of the Certificate of Completion and notification to the funding agency and/or revocation of financial assistance.
Can you accommodate persons with special needs?
We will make every effort to ensure that the NJC courses are held at facilities which are fully accessible to persons with disabilities. If you plan to attend a course and will need special facilities, assistance or accommodations relating to a disability or if you have special dietary requirements, please notify the NJC Registrar’s Office at (800) 255-8343 or (775) 784-6747 or registrar@judges.org.
What is your privacy policy?
The NJC will periodically use your contact information to send you additional course information. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your identifiable personal information. Click here for the NJC’s Privacy Policy.
