NJC to support civic education program in Northern Nevada

Project REAL to bring educational programs to Washoe County

RENO, Nev. – The National Judicial College is partnering with Project REAL (Relevant Education About the Law), a Las Vegas-based civic education program that teaches Nevada students the importance of the law.

The NJC will support Project REAL’s efforts to build a presence in Northern Nevada by providing office space for the nonprofit organization. The NJC will host a Project REAL employee this January as the organization eyes upcoming programs and appearances in Washoe County classrooms.

Project REAL educates K-12 students about the principles of democracy, law and the responsibilities of citizenship. The organization’s goal is to prepare Nevada’s children to become involved, participating citizens who understand their social responsibilities and rights, creating safer communities throughout the state.

The project was founded in 2005 by attorney Sam Lionel and real estate developer Irwin Molasky, who each received the NJC’s Advancement of Justice Award earlier this year and have been longtime supporters of the College.

“This partnership is an opportunity to create a synergy amongst educational organizations where the law is at the core,” Molasky said. “We are grateful to the NJC for providing a base where we can expand our programs throughout the state.”
