RENO, NV (October 4, 2021) – The State Justice Institute has renewed a one-year grant of $190,000 to The National Judicial College to provide scholarship for judges from all over the country to attend NJC courses.
The funding began at the start of the federal fiscal year, October 1, 2021.
The funds, from the institute’s Educational Support Program, are to help judges attend courses that they could not otherwise attend due to limited funds in local, state or personal budgets. The scholarships are available to any state court judge and can be used for tuition to the NJC’s in-person or online courses.
The State Justice Institute was established by federal law in 1984 to award grants to improve the quality of justice in state courts and foster solutions to common issues faced by all courts. The institute is a nonprofit corporation governed by an 11-member Board of Directors appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate.
