Testifying in court is a stressful experience for most people, especially for children and traumatize witnesses.

To reduce their anxiety so that they may testify in a truthful and articulate manner, many courts allow specially trained courtroom dogs (facility dogs and therapy dog) to accompany such vulnerable witnesses during their testimony. During this webinar, our panel will discuss the benefits of the courtroom dog to the witness in various jurisdictions and the legal issues that arise from their presence in the courtroom, including procedure and due process.

  • Implement best practices for permitting the present of courthouse dogs,
  • Ensure due process for all parties, and,
  • Explain the distinction between facility dogs and therapy dogs and other service dogs.
