Handling Domestic Violence Cases in Tribal Court Coming to Oklahoma

This four day course in Catoosa, Okla. will give tribal court judges skills to manage domestic violence cases with greater ease and confidence.

Register today for Handling Domestic Violence Cases in Tribal Court, being presented May 17-20, 2010 by The National Tribal Judicial Center at The National Judicial College. The course is grant-funded and will be held at the HardRock Hotel, 770 West Cherokee Street, Catoosa, Oklahoma.

This four-day course will empower you, as a tribal court judge, court administrator or other court related personnel, with skills to manage domestic violence cases with greater ease and confidence. After this course, you will be able to develop follow-up systems in civil actions; devise a methodology by which criminal defendants will
be held accountable to the court; recognize your ethical responsibilities in managing domestic violence cases; evaluate testimony of expert witnesses within the mental health profession; identify ways to handle stalking situations; and create action plans to help domestic violence victims. The course is being offered specifically to tribal judges, court administrators, social workers and other justice system personnel who deal with these types of cases, and who can attend preferably as a team.
