This international conference will bring together some of the world's leading scholars of evidence, forensic science, and criminalistics. Conference papers will be published in the American Bar Association’s journal, Jurimetrics: The Journal of Law, Science, and Technology and in the Oxford University Press journal, Law, Probability & Risk.

This international conference will bring together leading scholars of forensic science, criminalistics, and scientific evidence to discuss the future of forensic science and its relationship to the legal system in light of the new report of the National Academy of Science, "Strengthening the Forensic Science System in the United States: A Path Forward."

The conference will be held on April 3-4, 2009 at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. Participants who register by Friday, February 27 to receive a $250 discount off the at-the-door registration rate.

One of the first major responses to the National Academy of Sciences report this conference is designed for any practitioner who produces, uses or evaluates forensic science evidence, including prosecutors, public defenders, private attorneys, judges, forensic scientists, technicians and laboratory managers, criminalists, law professors and students and teachers of criminal justice and evidence. Attendance can qualify for up to seven hours per day of general credits for Continuing Legal Education (CLE).

The conference is sponsored by the ABA Section of Science and Technology Law, the Center for the Study of Law, Science & Technology at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, and the National Judicial College.
