Office for Victims of Crime to Eliminate Conference Fee

In an effort to reach as broad an audience as possible, the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) has decided to eliminate the $195 registration fee to attend the 2012 OVC Mass Violence & Emergency National Training Conference.

The conference will be held in Jacksonville, Florida from January 31-February 2, 2012. The 3-day conference will feature state of the art training with national experts presenting workshops and keynotes focusing on multi-disciplinary teams and victim-centered approaches to assisting victims of mass violence and disasters. The conference schedule is now available online.

The 2012 OVC Mass Violence and Emergency National Training Conference will bring together multidisciplinary stakeholder teams, including police, fire and rescue, investigators, medical providers, prosecutors, victim service professionals, policy-makers, faith communities, and other allied professionals to share their experiences and knowledge about how to respond to victims/survivors and communities. The event is sponsored by the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs at the U.S. Department of Justice.

Additionally, the OVC has set aside funds for scholarships (to help defray expenses) for qualifying multi-disciplinary stakeholder teams and is still accepting team scholarship applications.
