11/3/2009 Dear Friend of the College, This year, the National Judicial College has been proactive in responding to the economy by providing judges with additional options for judicial education. These experiences, including innovative online education, Webinars, NJC courses, instate programs, and regional programs, have positively affected the citizens of our nation’s communities through improved delivery of justice. As we look to the end of the year, we are asking people like you, our friends, judges, judicial educators, attorneys and law firms, corporations, and foundations, to join us in supporting our vision of advancing justice through judicial education. Members of the NJC community continue to build their legacy through their continual support of the College. One such person who could make up an entire community based solely on his own career accomplishments is retired Judge, V. Robert Payant, NJC president emeritus. In his distinguished, decades-long career in the state of Michigan, Judge Payant served as juvenile, district and trial court judge, and later as state court administrator. He joined the staff of NJC as Associate Dean, and then became Dean/President. Judge Payant truly understands what the NJC community means to a fair and impartial well-educated judiciary, and he continues to teach for the College today. Recently, Judge Payant reflected on his involvement with the NJC and said, “I have been a part of the NJC for 36 years and have witnessed its growth and incredible impact on the nation’s communities. I am familiar with many judicial education programs and can say unequivocally that there is no greater judicial education institution in the nation than the NJC.” As a member of the NJC community, please join Judge Payant and consider making a special year-end gift to the College by December 31. With your help, you allow us to build upon our reputation that has come to represent the best in judicial education. Simply click here and you will be redirected to our secure online donation page. Thank you for your consideration – especially during these challenging economic times. We know that there are many organizations that warrant your support, and we hope that you will choose the NJC. With support from private donors like you, the education provided by the NJC results in improvements to the justice system that affects the lives of all Americans. Sincerely,
William F. Dressel |
